Nunsthorpe featured in Guardian ‘Poem of the Week’

The Nunsthorpe estate was featured in the Guardian newspaper recently, as it is the subject of local writer Sam Gardiner’s poem ‘Showing Me’ – which was  selected as the paper’s Poem of the Week.

The poem challenges some of the stereotypes that have grown up arround the estate in recent years, detailing the everyday lives of busy people and happy childhoods.  Something which most of us can relate to.

Sam has lived on Milton Road for many years, and the poem comes from his last book The Morning After.

Shame they couldn’t actually come to the estate to get a picture – clearly not ‘depressed’ enough, so they had to settle for Freemo.
